MCI pickup: meet at the Ground Transportation Center on the lower level
Your chauffeur meets you at the dedicated Ground Transportation Center on the lower level, just past baggage claim. Our dispatch team is based in Kansas City and dispatches vetted local affiliate operators across the metro. Flight tracking is included. The driver texts when your plane touches down and again once positioned in the Ground Transportation Center. For domestic arrivals, the meet point is inside the Ground Transportation Center with a name sign. For international arrivals, the driver waits just outside customs at the arrivals hall and then escorts you to the Ground Transportation Center. Curbside pickup is not used for pre-booked black-car service at the new terminal.
Kansas City International opened its new single terminal in February 2023. The $1.5 billion facility replaced the old three-terminal layout with one building and 39 gates. That change moved all commercial ground transportation to the lower-level Ground Transportation Center. We recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead for weekday business arrivals. Most rides into the city use I-29 south to I-435 or I-70, depending on your destination.

Sedan service to or from MCI starts at $130 for downtown Kansas City and Country Club Plaza. Rates below include one hour of meet-and-greet wait time, parking, and tolls. Longer waits caused by customs or baggage issues are billed in 15-minute increments.

I-29 southbound can back up during the morning rush. The table above reflects normal traffic. We pad every reservation with extra time when you flag a flight that lands near rush hour.
Honest limitations
We cannot guarantee exact arrival times during severe weather, rush hour, or major event departures. MCI sits about 19 miles northwest of downtown, so most routes depend on I-29 and I-435. A single accident on I-29 can add 20 minutes or more. We monitor traffic and reroute when possible, but we do not control the roads. Vehicle amenities such as bottled water and Wi-Fi vary by affiliate operator; tell us what you need when you book.
Kansas City service area specifics
We cover business travelers throughout Jackson County, Johnson County, and the Northland. Common destinations include T-Mobile Center, the Crossroads Arts District, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kauffman Stadium, and the Kansas Speedway in Wyandotte County. The metro sits on the Missouri-Kansas state line, so some runs cross from one state to the other on I-35 or I-70. Peak demand hits during Chiefs home games, the American Royal in the fall, and NASCAR weekends at Kansas Speedway. Book early on those dates; availability tightens quickly.
