Who books car service in the Power and Light District and why?
Concertgoers, sports fans, corporate groups, and out-of-town guests book private car service here for safe, pre-planned arrivals and departures. The Power and Light District is an eight-block entertainment area anchored by T-Mobile Center and the KC Live! block. It opened in 2007 and now hosts roughly 100 events per year, including Big 12 basketball and major touring concerts.
Where pickups and drop-offs happen
We serve addresses along Grand Boulevard, 13th Street, Walnut Street, and Truman Road. Frequent stops include T-Mobile Center, the Marriott Kansas City Downtown, the Kansas City Convention Center, and the restaurants along 14th Street. Our dispatch team arranges each ride through local affiliate operators familiar with the district’s traffic patterns.
Airport access from the Power and Light District
MCI is roughly 17 miles northwest of the district. The drive uses Interstate 29 and Interstate 35 and normally takes 20 to 30 minutes. Post-event traffic around T-Mobile Center can extend that to 45 minutes if your departure aligns with a concert or game let-out.
What it costs
Because the Power and Light District sits within downtown Kansas City, sedan transfers to MCI start at $130. Larger vehicles and late-night service carry higher rates.
One honest limitation
After major events, Grand Boulevard and adjacent streets close to through traffic for pedestrian safety. Your driver cannot idle at the venue curb. We send a specific meet location by text or email before the event ends.
When to reserve
Book at least 48 hours ahead for T-Mobile Center events. Business-hour transfers can often be arranged 24 hours out.
